The bike ride west from my starting point is a little bit easier, at least over the short distance I went Sunday. No big hills, but a couple medium-sized ones to go over roads. There's also the difference that while it's a good four miles to Vienna going east, going west takes me through "downtown" Reston and into Herndon. So there's a bit more to see.
Hopefully by mid-summer I'll be in shape enough to ride out to 28 again, and go a little bit farther. The trail itself ends beyond Leesburg, so I have plenty of space to go. Doesn't look like there's much to see once I get past 28, though. Maybe once I get to that point I'll start riding west again and see what's on the other side of the Beltway (and if I can survive that giant hill right after I cross 66).
