I went on vacation the first week of September. A day in London, then up to Glasgow and Edinburgh. That was really cool; I'd been to London before but never to Scotland.
My sister and brother-in-law joined me... eventually. They flew Aer Lingus out of Cleveland, and their flight randomly got canceled a few hours before they would have left for the airport. Aer Lingus did reschedule them, though... for two days later. Instead of checking out London with me, they just cooled their heels in Ohio while I saw things I saw back in 2013 because I'd bought tickets thinking they'd enjoy them. They got to LHR just in time to catch a train and the Tube to Euston Station and have a coffee before we left for Glasgow.
But once we were all there things were really cool. We spent more time in Edinburgh than Glasgow, partially because it was easier to find things online for Edinburgh, and partially because everything there is in a single walkable area. It was just easier to get to things there. So because we weren't in Glasgow for long and because it was overcast the whole time, I kind of got a Gotham-y feel from the place. Even with a couple foggy mornings I got a totally different vibe in Edinburgh.
Unlike my trips in 2013 and 2016 (and 2023 to a lesser extent) I'm writing down what my pictures are of right now instead of waiting and forgetting. Since I can remember roughly where I would have been when I took those shots I can also get on Google Maps and figure out the name of things I shot just because I thought they looked cool. London has a whole-ass palace that I didn't know what it was until I got home and looked it up. That text file on my desktop will become the album once I get around to uploading everything.
Which might take a while. My very limited quota space at my web host is just about full, so I'm going to use my Google account as a kind of poor man's CDN. Which means rewriting the photo album admin code that I just rewrote last year. (It needed it anyway, there's an upper limit on POST size, so doing everything old-school as a single form isn't going to work anyway.) But, man. I really don't want to write PHP. At all. Ever.
So stay tuned. I'm sure it'll happen eventually.
