"Stardates"

Stardates are the timekeeping method used in the various Star Trek series. The ones in the original series and the animated series were more or less random, and the JJverse movies just use a year.Julian-date system.

But the Next Generation era used a system where the dates counted up by 1000 over the course of a season. 41xxx was TNG season one, and that system carried through to Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Lower Decks, which had a last-mentioned stardate of 59499.6 near the end of season five.

That was what I replicated here, using the start of 2000 CE in UTC as stardate 000000.0. I also added a second decimal place so it'll tick up about every five minutes, and added a sixth digit to allow for years beyond 2099.

A year is defined as 31,556,952 seconds -- 365.2425 days per year, factoring in leap days.

Stardate ------.-- = ---------- --:--:-- ------- (Next birthday)

Stardate ------.-- = ---------- --:--:-- ------- (Year 2038 problem)
